Chapter 26 - After the Sicky Beauty Transmigrated Into A Book, He Married the Arrogant Crown Prince

Chapter 26

Ling Feng muttered softly, "I was just joking."

"I mean it." Song Beiyao put down the pen, "Today, I'm taking two guards from the Yan Nuan Pavilion with me. You just stay at the residence."

"This..." Ling Feng was not at ease, "Will this work?"

"Pei Ji must be suspicious of both you and me now, so we should try not to leave the residence together." Song Beiyao explained to him.

Then he said, "You stay in the residence and find a way to let Pei Ji know that I didn't bring you when going to meet the regent of Northern Qi."

Ling Feng knew he had his own plans again, so he didn't ask any more questions and just nodded.

When they left the residence, it was already the hour of the rooster, and the sky was pitch black.

The carriage sent by Helian Zhuo stopped outside the mansion. Song Beiyao inquired about the destination, informed Ling Feng, and then boarded the carriage. Two first-class green-clad guards from the Crown Prince's Palace rode alongside, heading straight to Song Xiang Tavern.

Song Xiang Restaurant was located on the west side of Lidu City, far from the Prince's Mansion on the east side of the city.

The carriage initially moved steadily along the main road, but after about a quarter of an hour, it suddenly accelerated and turned into a dark alley on the side.

Song Beiyao was just lifting the carriage blinds to admire the night view of Lidu City, when suddenly a burst of centrifugal force slammed him against the carriage wall, and the blinds closed with a snap.

Seeing something was amiss, the two guards immediately urged their horses forward, trying to stop the carriage. However, in an instant, more than a dozen people rushed out from the side, surrounding the two men and their horses completely, leaving no chance for them to break through.

"Your Highness!!"

Song Beiyao heard the distant shouts behind him and tried to open the carriage door to check the situation. However, the carriage was moving too fast, jolting along the way. His body hadn't fully recovered yet, and he was thrown around several times, only managing to cling to the window frame to barely stabilize himself.

Suddenly, a horse's neighing sound was heard, and the carriage was forcefully stopped by something, crashing violently against the wall with a loud "bang" and flipping over onto the ground.

In an instant, the world spun upside down. Song Beiyao did his best to protect himself, but still ended up hitting his head.

Fresh blood quickly flowed from his temple. He lay in the carriage, feeling his consciousness gradually detach from his body.

"Please, don't kill me!! Please!! Please, I'm begging you!!!" He heard someone outside the carriage wailing, their voice filled with extreme terror, but it quickly stopped, not even a single scream had escape.

"You dare to touch the person I want to kill?"

A mocking voice echoed in the silent night.

Song Beiyao's pupils instantly constricted. He struggled to get out of the carriage, but his body hurt so much that he couldn't muster any strength.

He heard footsteps gradually approaching, stopping outside the carriage. With a "whoosh," the carriage door was flung open.

In the gentle moonlight, he saw a tall figure in black outside the carriage slowly bending down, peering into the carriage.

"Oh? Not dead yet?”

A drop of blood slid from his forehead into his eye socket. Song Bei gazed at that familiar face, momentarily forgetting to breathe.

"Qin Zhen..."

The person outside the carriage was holding a long, narrow knife with the tip pointing down, and blood was continuously dripping.

He was dressed in a suit that was as black as night, his hair half-tied back, with a few long braids woven into the loose strands. The braids were adorned with silver beads, exuding a youthful vibe.

That face was so handsome and full of life, even with a black headband tied across the forehead.

Upon seeing Song Beiyao, he raised his eyebrows and smiled with interest, "What a beauty; such a pity."

The next second, he reached out and violently pulled him out of the carriage. Song Beiyao fell to the ground, clutching his chest, and violently coughed up several mouthfuls of blood.

It took only a few moments, yet he was in so much pain that his vision went black. The man squatted in front of him, one hand gloved in black gripping his blood-soaked chin, speaking in a slow, leisurely tone, as if toying with a dying, struggling prey.

"I'm usually quite merciful to beautiful people. So, tell me, would you prefer a slit to the throat or a stab to the heart?"

Song Beiyao, however, seemed to have heard nothing he said. His dazed eyes strained to stay open, staring fixedly at his face without blinking, "Qin Zhen..."

"Beauty, my name is not Qin Zhen." The man slowly lowered his head, raised his hand, and plunged a knife fiercely into Song Beiyao's heart, a cruel smile curling at the corner of his mouth. "Remember this, my name is Su Yue."

The knife was swiftly drawn, and blood gushed out instantly. Su Yue lowered his gaze, and seeing Song Beiyao's stunningly beautiful face, he smiled.

Su Yue brought the tip of the knife to his lips, extended his tongue to lick the bloodstains on it, and revealed a strange and maniacal smile.

"Beautiful people have sweet blood too."

In the next moment, an arm wrapped around the back of his neck, as if trying to use the last bit of strength to hold him.

Su Yue's expression slightly froze, and he immediately pulled the person off him.

Then, the chill of killing intent surged from behind him, and Su Yue quickly moved, using his knife to block.

Under the silver moon, the newcomer’s cold and fierce eyes revealed his murderous intent, exuding an overwhelming sense of pressure. The long sword, with its immense force, actually pushed him back a few steps.

Su Yue glanced at the person on the ground. Since the mission was complete, he didn't linger on the battlefield. He turned and leapt onto the high wall, disappearing into the vast darkness with a few swift jumps.

"Your Highness!" Qu Lan chased all the way and finally rode hastily into the alley, panting heavily, "I will go after him..."

"There's no need to chase him, you're no match for him."

Pei Ji sheathed his sword and tossed it to Qu Lan. He turned around and walked towards the person lying on the ground.

It had unknowingly started to snow lightly, and the moonlight was bright and clear.
