Chapter 17.5 - After the Sickly Beauty Transmigrated Into a Book, He Married the Arrogant Crown Prince
“......"
At this time, there was a knock at the door, and Qu Lan informed outside, "Your Highness, Ce-jun is here."
"Come in."
This was the first time the young master had come to His Highness's study, perhaps he would have a way to make His Highness drink more soup. Zhang Bo immediately hung his head and said, "This old slave will retire first."
He raised his steps to go, Pei Ji slightly brought up, "Remove the soup."
Zhang Bo has no choice but to bring out what he had just brought in. When he arrived at the door, he saw the other young master of the mansion.
"Your Highness, he has a bad appetite, so I'd appreciate it if Ce-jun would help him eat more." Zhang Bo said to him.
Song Beiyao smiled at him, "Don't worry Uncle Zhang, I will."
Pei Ji's study was much larger than his small room in Yannuan Pavilion, and was divided into an inner room and an outer room. The outer room was furnished with some mahogany tables and chairs, and the floor was covered with a carpet with a flying qilin pattern. The overall layout was more serious and formal, and it should be a place for receiving guests on a daily basis.
Walk in, pass a screen with a landscape painting, and you will reach the inner room.
There was a faint scent of incense in the air. Song Beiyao inhaled the scent and it was a bit like a cool perfume mixed with mint, lavender and snow. The mint was fresh, the lavender was soft, and the snow was cold. When combined together, the scent was refreshing and comfortable.
Song Beiyao had smelled this scent on Pei Ji as well, and it turned out to be the incense in the study.
He approached slowly and spoke warmly, "Husband."
Pei Ji raised his head from the table full of paperwork, his knife-carved face was still cold, hard and handsome, it was hard to tell if he was experiencing any physical discomfort.
The last time they met was three days ago, and Pei Ji's gaze skimmed over Song Beiyao's face.
Somehow, that face seems to have a kind of magic power that makes people take one look and suddenly they long to see that face more and more.
Pei Ji lowered his head, his gaze returning to the paperwork, and asked, "Is your body feeling better?"
"Much better. This is something I should ask husband. I heard that last night husband had a stomach bug. Are you better today?" Song Beiyao unknowingly walked to his side, putting the food box down, his tone concerned.
"This king is not in any serious trouble." Pei Ji said in a deep voice.
Song Beiyao opened the food box and brought out a black and white porcelain bowl from within. The bowl and the lid came together to form a cute cat head.
Pei Ji absently glanced at the bowl, glanced again, and absently asked, "What is this?"
""These are the bowls and spoons that I asked Ling Feng to make outside this afternoon." Song Beiyao took out a wooden spoon from within the food box and brought it to Pei Ji's eyes and shook it twice, the end of the spoon handle just happened to be in the shape of a cat's paw.
Pei Ji stared at it for a while, and quickly looked at the bowl again, "What is contained inside?"
"Husband, guess what it is. If you guess it right, I’ll give it to you so you can eat it." Song Beiyao looked at him with sparkling eyes.
Pei Ji felt amused and quickly moved his eyes away, "This king will not guess and will not eat."
"C’mon, guess what it is." Song Beiyao tugged on his sleeve with two fingers, with some pampering implications.
Pei Ji remembered the soup that Zhang Bo had brought just now, his forehead corner jumped a bit and said, "Is it soup?"
"Right guess!" Song Beiyao picked up both of the cat's ears and removed the lid of the bowl, a light medicinal scent immediately wafted out from within. Pei Ji felt that the stickiness from the mouthful of oily soup he'd taken just now had all been washed away.
"Husband, please drink it." Song Beiyao put the spoon into the soup bowl.
Pei Ji moved his fingertips a bit, then looked at the bowl then spoke, "This king will drink it later, you go out first."
"No, this is husband’s reward for guessing correctly, so I will personally feed it to your husband." Song Beiyao looked at Pei Ji, smiling until his eyes were perfect half crescent moon shaped.
Pei Ji retracted his gaze, "No need."
Song Beiyao still picked up the spoon and scooped up a mouthful, sending it to the side of Pei Ji's face, "Husband."
Pei Ji slightly sidled his head, "This king will do it himself."
The spoon was instantly passed to his lips. Pei Ji stiffly opened his mouth and took a sip. The medicinal aroma was mixed with the meat aroma, without the slightest greasiness, and among the salty flavor, there was also a hint of very faint sweetness.
Pei Ji pursed his lips. Song Beiyao couldn't wait to ask, "Is it good?"
Without waiting for Pei Ji to answer, he immediately scooped up a second spoonful, which Pei Ji again swallowed stiffly. This was followed by the third and fourth spoonful.
Pei Ji gradually relaxed. He opened his eyes and saw Song Beiyao's extremely serious and focused expression. Every time he took a sip, the boy raised the corners of his lips and revealed a satisfied smile.
He seemed to be the only one who could be seen in those eyes, and every time they showed a smile, the end of the eye would rise slightly, and the mole of tears would go up and down with it.
Pei Ji unknowingly raised his hand and held the other’s wrist. Song Beiyao looked puzzled, "What's wrong husband? Am I feeding you too fast?"
Pei Ji reacted to what he had done, his complexion was slightly stunned, and he immediately loosened his hand. "Nothing."
After the bowl of soup was finished, Song Beiyao put away the spoon. Pei Ji gathered his eyebrows in a frown, and looked inside the bowl. The soup was all gone.
Putting the bowl away and the lid of the food box closed, Song Beiyao softly said, "I won't bother husband." When he turned around to retreat, he suddenly lost his footing and fell towards the side.
Pei Ji immediately tugged on his waist and swept him over, Song Beiyao instantly sat on Pei Ji's lap.
He let out a cry of surprise, his hand against Pei Ji’s chest, his eyes flashing chaotically, like a frightened deer. Quickly calming down again, his face pale, he said, "I'm sorry husband, I went to the dining room in the afternoon to watch them make soup. I'm a little tired, and I just accidentally slipped."
The candle flame at the table swung abruptly a few times.
Pei Ji's hand was still resting at Song Beiyao’s waist. He lowered his eyes and looked at Song Beiyao's eyes. Song Beiyao had been born with a pair of extremely beautiful eyes, with a nice eye shape. The corner of the eye was slightly upturned, and the pupil of the eye was amber in color. The eyes were glossy, and when looking at people, there was always a feeling of implied love.
There was a mole just below the corner of the left eye, making the face look more and more bewitching. But those eyes usually only show either good behavior, softness, and gentleness, or panic, horror, and bewilderment.
At a certain moment, Pei Ji suddenly felt as if these eyes shouldn't just show that kind of look.
